Back pain Osteopaths are best known for our treatment of pain in the low back and pelvis, and nearly 60% of our patients are seeking treatment for low back pain
Sciatica, trapped nerves and "slipped discs" Nerves often become inflammed when muscles in the back go into spasm, or they get compressed by a buldge in one of the discs between the vertebrae of the spine (previously known as a slipped disc, now referred to as a prolapsed disc). Trapped nerves, most commonly the Sciatic nerve which runs down the back of the leg to the foot, can cause pain, pins and needles and numbness in the affected areas
Shoulder Pain and "frozen shoulder" Shoulder pain can be very debilitating, whether it be caused by sitting too long, computer work and stress or by inflammation developing in the shoulder joint capsule ("frozen shoulder" - the shoulder is not frozen, just too painful to move)
Knee Pain Pain in the knee can be due to problems with the cartilages, knee ligaments or the associated muscles.

Neck Pain The second most common problem our patients seek help for, after low back pain. Neck problems can cause pain, headaches, difficulty moving and can also trap the nerves which supply the arms and hands
Repetitive Strain Injuries/Tennis Elbow Nearly all of the cases of "tennis elbow" that we treat are not due to tennis! Those same tendons are also used in typing on a computer keyboard and if they become inflammed they can cause pain in the elbow, forearm, wrist and hand
Headaches Many headaches are due to tension and restrictions in the neck. In these cases treatment can help relieve the pain of headaches
Pregnancy related back pain Back pain, especially low back pain, is very common in pregnancy. Our Osteopaths have safely treated many pregnant women and have helped with back, shoulder and neck pain as well as sciatica in pregnancy
Hip Pain Osteopathy can also help with pain in the hip area by working on the muscles and joints of the hip and pelvis
