Tom is an authority in his field, and, at our first session, he gave the air of having encountered my issue countless times, which was reassuring. He took a little time to explain what my problem is and what its cause was – which again made me feel that I was in safe hands – and he also pointed out that the problem was such that I shouldn’t have to be on his books for too long. Clearly, Tom was more interested in practising his art than taking money from me, which added to the confidence and trust I had in him. He is personable and friendly but, most importantly, the diagnosis he provided for my back made sense, and the short daily stretching routines he suggested have hit the mark, making me feel whole and centred again, not cut in half by a precarious back, nor left with nagging doubts about it. In short, I’m able to move as I did before the problem ever arose. My back pain does (and will) occasionally return, in line with Tom’s diagnosis, but at least I now know what to expect, how to deal with it, and feel I can manage my condition appropriately.
